I want to walk through the forest, I just don’t want to walk through it alone.
This series of landscapes mirrors a period of emotional and mental ambivalence. I always found myself inspired by the beauty of the forest, but at the same time felt unnerved by the fact that I could never really see what was coming up ahead. The rows of orderly trees, chaotic branches and absence of a clear sky symbolising a sense of uneasiness I could also feel in life.
For a long time I thought I had to be able to walk through unnerving forests by myself. But I realised that underneath that simply lay a deep wish to share my life with someone – and to walk through the forest together.
