ZOO. It is a weird and ambivalent feeling I get, when visiting a zoo. On the one hand my body fills with excitement to be able to see all sorts of animals I normally don’t come across. It feels quite magical to get so close to the most amazing creatures. Especially when you have that rare moment where there is no one else around and it’s like you are actually making contact with the being in front of you. At the same time I feel sad and conflicted because I am so aware of the boundaries of their enclosures and I wonder if they are at all happy, or if the sadness I seem to see in their eyes is real, or just a projection of my own emotions.
